Women of Softcom

Yvonne Ige

How would you describe the work you do at Softcom?
I lead the Digital team, Retail Field Marketing, Experiential and Customer Success teams. My work at Softcom is exhilarating. I am responsible for creating and implementing the overall product marketing strategy for promoting Softcom’s Products. I work closely with the Product team in ensuring that our offerings are the right fit for the market, and I also ensure that once the products are launched, we achieve market success by ensuring customer retention, growth, and loyalty.
What does choosing to challenge mean personally for you?
Choosing to challenge in 2021 means Growth; growth in every aspect of my life – my career and my skills. Ensuring that I push the boundaries and ensuring that my voice counts.
What would access and inclusion look like for you in the Africa Softcom is trying to build?

Access and inclusion to me mean ensuring that human beings in Africa have the same opportunities regardless of gender, tribe, and religion. This means that people are given opportunities to thrive, be heard and be seen. Access and inclusion mean that anyone regardless of who they are can start and grow their skills and businesses.

Softcom is a place where we are all responsible for being our brother and sisters’ keeper and 50% of leadership positions at Softcom are occupied by women at Softcom. This is the Africa we are trying to build.

How did you get into the tech environment?
Having worked in different industries such as banking and Oil & Gas, I have always seen technology as an enabler in promoting innovation and business opportunities. I am truly inspired by the solutions and products technology brings to the society. You can save a life with technology, reach more people and change peoples lives. It is fulfilling and interesting. My growing interest led me to explore more job opportunities in the field of technology.
What do you do for fun?
I love creating hand made products like soaps, candles, and perfumes; listening to music, and lunching with friends.
